A Lot of what went so badly wrong in the death of rural Blue Earth County resident Mr Jeffrey Skjervold seems to be made clear in the following article:
THIS Business of the wild multi-jurisdictional excited taskforce convergence at 120 mph on the “crime-scene” is especially illustrative. The average cop in order to be at all successful of course has to be a bit of a criminal themselves. High-speed driving-skills help naturally, but anyway you cut it police officers are not readers of Catullus and Montaigne. Instead of being literate or thoughtful, as a rule they are kinesthetic and dionysian — “Girls just want to have fun!” as they say.
And, to paraphrase A A Milne but slightly:
“Wild excitement plus maybe shooting somebody or, anyway, bouncing them around a little is especially what Tiggers like best!”
ANYWAY, In the southern Minnesota & Greater Iowa region there have been for something like twenty-five years or more these inflated “Region 9” and “Multicounty” and “Football-Fan Police Warriors Against Abnormality” police-coordination schemes.
Mainly they offer a satisfactory emotional feeling of derring-do to participants, and sensations of un-Godly high levels of positively postmodern competence to the professionalist administrators. However, the problem is not so much that none of these administrative nuthatches are even remotely entitled to any of these phony success-feelings!
The worst part, unfortunately, is that over-centralization means larger numbers of subordinates. Bad cops thrive and really get out of hand under just such conditions and can hide out quite easily, both from their own superiors and judicial supervision.
There is also a kind of statistical corruption which has to do with police-budgets. This results mainly in “special action” squads inveigling retarded people surrounded in trailercourts, and on welfare, to buy illegal drugs. These coons are then busted, big statistics get rung up –and so there is another big fat increase in the annual giveaway of “free” law-enforcement money from off of the federal government.
Through the years, the federal giveaways have been described as “law-enforcement assistance” programs, “anti-drug” funding and, just lately, “Homeland Security” trickledown-cash — in our case presumably because of the handful of Mohammedan students from Pakistan at “MSU” in Mankato, the college that nowadays calls itself a “university.”
THE Result has been the increasing militarization of the police — and, this is not a good thing as shown by the death of Mr Skjervold last winter.
Please revisit the following link for a comprehensive documentation of the public reports thus far:
Now when you read through all of the press-reports to date, the conclusion seems to be two-to-one that Mr Skjervold died most likely as a result of police hysterical excitement, wrongly-timed playing around with “Tasers” and the resulting rage officers felt when Mr Skjervold dared to go back in his house and dared to fight back after having been falsely promised a quiet arrest upon his voluntary surrender.
That at least is what the common people hereabouts are saying happened — and, so far, there is darn little reason to suppose that the people are wrong.
As to their “community leaders,” well, that is as so often evidently quite another story….
