ARGUABLY The young men and women who were shaped by the experience of the First World War, and then led the World to war a generation later, could be called the “Most Violent Generation.” After all, the ravine-German and sometime gasser of Jews and Gypsies, A Hitler, cut his teeth in that war, running dispatches. And Missouri National Guard artillery officer H S Truman, and twice-atomic bomber of Japs, served in that conflict also.
LATER, These First War-veterans led their children through the brutal sewer of the Second World War — those children, our parents and grandparents, are now called by many the “Greatest Generation.”
ALL Of which brings us down to our own dear little self-adoring selves, the generation of 1946-64….
AS Scrooge McDuck said while looking at pictures of his only heirs to his three cubic acres of moneybin-money, Donald Duck and Gladstone Gander, and his three little grand-nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie:
“WHAT A Collection!”
AFTER Our predecessors, the Most Violent Generation and the Greatest Generation, what other cognomen better suits us now utterly-morally-busted baby-boomers than — the Most Disappointing Generation?
THEREFORE, I must as an historian — and although I am no Democrat! — greet with resigned satisfaction the altogether-good news, that Mr B Obama is outdoing lately Mrs W J Clinton in the fundraising-race, for the 2008 Presidential-race.
THIS Is good news historically speaking, as it is a leading-indicator:
YOUNGER “Boomers,” those born after 1954, are now turning on their hog-like and tenured, overpaid, big brothers and sisters and siding with the so-called “Generation-X,” and the children and grandchildren — all of whom now are stuck with the preposterous bills and stark-naked embarrassment, the nincompoop shame and global incompetent fruits, all laid rotting onto their shoulders by mine, the most professional and most-underachieving, expensive, half-generation in all of our American history.
