SOME There are who affect to be made distrait, and they declare their factitious irritation, at my insightful condemnation of the the shiftless and professionalistic pretensions of my 1946-64 baby-boom generation. As though I, the dispassionate independent scholar, were ‘projecting’ or being somehow ‘not objective’, or something.
WELL, All that certain Sufis would have to say is: ‘It takes one to know one!’
AND, For the rest, speaking of projection, well here is an agreement from the World and a man at least as idle and mentally-lazy as his subject, albeit himself of an older generation, and most certainly one who is not usually thought of as in touch with (Sufi) ideas at all:
AS We say here in American, in southern Minnesota and on the North Coast of Iowa, “this takes the cake,” and…”it rips the rag right off the Bush!”
