[The following excerpts from various recent online exchanges by a number of contemporary sufi students at work here in the non-muslim part of the West are illustrative of some of the best benefits of sufi studies. Also, they reveal clearly the many kinds and consistent quality of developed and penetrating perception, as well as the lighthearted wit, that is the hallmark of the successful students in mid-passage. Altogether, these excerpts are as refreshing as a drink of water in the deep desert of our otherwise deserted and, of course, “objectively God-damned” postmodernity. Please note that I have rendered the the objective sufic content in terra cotta. MN]
ON INTERNET FIGHTS
27 January 2011
See? Even down here on the level of a bare two dozen folks all more-or-less on the same page, it’s nothing but a God-damn hog-wrassle! And yet optimistic folks “think” that through politics “they” are going to get hundreds of millions of these bastards on board, for example to “do something!” (About WHATEVER….) So that’s that, after a point, like the Indian said, the visionary world is the ONLY place left where there is any hope at all. Well…anyway…Len The Puddlejumper DID reply yesterday that he was cleaning up his email and getting rid of the Spam Spermmonger Ads!
At sixty-two, really, I am beginning to see that the limits ARE absolute and that THIS is a shithouse!
My friend, The Baron, is forever beating everybody and their God-damn brother over the peckerhead with scare-mails about The Doctors, Big Galactic Core Explosions & The Conspiracy…fuck! If only SOME of the bastards were smart enough to plan ANYTHING.
The real horror is that this crude biological horror will go on for 4.5 billion MORE years.
PS: Incidentally, my old jungian analyst classmate, BN, aka “Wayness Tamm-Clattuc,” has given us the last word for good, and for all time, on Michele Bachmann, her neurosis:
Among other things, and Michele Bachmann’s career, Dr Tamm-Clattuc writes:
“In the extremest case, Adolf Hitler died in a sewer in Berlin. Sir Winston Churchill lingered for more than ten years in an awful senility, Dr. King succumbed to his own marytrdom in collusion with the hideous shadows of his killer, and two of the Kennedys were sacrificed to nothing but the vicious inferiority both moral and social of the driven sexualizing father. The run-of-the-mill Congressmen or county board members, by contrast, do not enjoy such extreme fates, but there is about it all an awful futility, anyway….”
CHANNELING SOME OBJECTIVE INSIGHT

“[Y]ou know, Nancy Pelosi was sedated — and this Boner is such a perv! If I was a single mom and I seen Boehnert coming around with the ice cream truck in the park and dinging HIS dinger, I sure as Hell would get my kids under cover…especially the little boys! The filthy swine lolls in the tanning booth, has that cheap German tearfulness that is on all-fours with singing “Silent Night” outside of a gas chamber, and House Speaker Bone Flute is a complete bought-and-paid-for dirty asshole.

YOUR POLITICAL ALLIES
28 January 2011
Ah, phooey, Al Franken is another bedwetter, it’s just that we tend to think that he’s funnier than, say, Dick(less!) Cheney! So much for “Smiling Al.” It’s like Michael Moore, I don’t particularly go out of my way to get my moral instruction from off of Hollywood showpeople and comedians, “Hanoi Jane” and The Pope!
I agree with you on Carter, though.
And, likewise, if the GOP (!) Senators hadn’t shit all over Stockman’s budget-cuts in 1981-2, why President Obama today would actually have some wiggle-room on spending public money, now, in this real emergency.
It is your fellow party-members that you will ALWAYS find fingering around at your behinder in the washhouse!

“C, that is a charming image below, of you reading heretical texts in a rectory in the Summer, under the tutelage of a secretly sardonic and, indeed, hellish old Jesuit of a great-uncle! I can see you there!”
Naml al-Haddad, in reply to:
“It’s rather interesting that P also grew up with lots of Jewish kids as well. Although I suffered 12 years of Catholic school indignities, it was from the Jewish kids and their parents’ love of learning and debate that I honed my own skills, which naturally got me in lots of trouble with most of the priests in my diocese, who all seem to run away from me anytime I had questions to ask of them (thereby putting partially to rest that they were all trying to have their way with us), with the exception of the late Ciáran Thomas Anthony Browne, PhD, S.J., who just so also happen to my maternal great uncle. The many summers spent in the rectory library reading theology and philosophy books, and not just the Catholic ones, which he added at his own expense (yes, he was a bit a of a “heretic” himself). Still I agree that comparing Al Franken to Michelle Bachmann is like say that lump of coal and a diamond are the same. While the two are of a similar elemental composition, a diamond will continue to have value long after the coal has been burned and used in the last barbecue. Not mention that while Franken may or may not be funny, we all know Bachmann is a complete fucking lunatic.”
WHAT THEY ARE WORTH
31 January 2011
The political class — now including the bought-off and GOP-sabotaged Libertarian Party — are the staked goats for the more-clever “conspirators,” or anyway the Children Of THIS World.
The “career” of this Clinton creature, and a Cheney and a Bush, is objectively not worth one mashed and trampled, dead, chick in the Tyson animal-Auschwitz.
As Old Churchill said (with a great deal less justice!) of Stanley Baldwin on his death in 1944, ‘it would be better if he had not lived’.
4 February 2011
Yar! Just back from Mipple City where MDPIC seen a eyedoctor and we had a dancing lesson from Arthur Murray…I will go over the UFO videos in the ack-emma as I am crapped out for now, p-o-o-p-e-d. Generally I tend along the lines indicated by Patrick Clancy. Simply, the acceleration energy demand to project molecular-scaled masses of any volume and weigh even just at lightspeed is, well, pretty big. Now theoretically FTL opens up a reducing field of E the further you recede on the far side from C; young Peter Linde in New Zealand some years ago mathematized this as well as travel in -T. I don’t dispute the phenomena that many are perceiving; I just tend to think it is incidental discharges of waste heat and light and so forth, from something like experiments in T+ to reach back here and, of course, back past us. As for the odd appearance of the reported aliens, I expect that if one of us was dropped out in Olduvai Gorge -40000 years ago, it might darn well strike the habitues that we was, well, pretty scary looking, or anyway Lutheran and odd.
Now imagine Lucy’s astonishment WAY back when, if a Sufi worker was to drop (accidentally or otherwise) Donald Rumsfeld and Bram Stoker and Countess Batori on to her head with a tweezers out of some Petri dish!
I still tend toward the ideas of the ensemble of so-called anthropic cosmological principles. “Anthropic” is unfortunate and homo sapiens-centric; “cosmological principles of sentience” would be more like it, or so I think. But, regardless, I find the idea that when once intelligence — Nature’s awareness of itself, ie — appears in one part of any universe that it is then a done deal and intelligence will assimilate that entire universe. The next step which could be going on “now” is that the universes begin attempts at communication; this might be prompted, at least in part, by 1) mathematical predictions, and 2) accidental seepage, episodes of “crosstalk,” UFO sightings and so forth.
The great caveat in the case of any individual universe doubtlessly is the light-cone generated by accelerating self-awareness in the material of part of that universe will necessarily have to exceed a certain dimensionless ratio or constant, that k which is the function of x = the mass of “organized” photons : opposed to the rest of the mess, to insure transubstantion of the whole.
In short, we may well not be home free as yet, and we still just might crap out! That is a circumstance however that should at least restore the moral self-respect of the personal responsibility crowd — in just the same way as, if successful in “this” universe, we necessarily would embark on the rescue at least of any of the failed “nearby” experiments. In any case, though, it rather obviously (to me, at least) takes at least a bit of Time for the Future to catch up with (all of) the(se) “present(s).”
A HOME TRUTH, Or : No Sufi, And Walter Mitty Neither, Is A Hero To His Wife
3 February 2011
Ah, me, well, I reckon one man’s insult is another’s “home truth!” As M said to me just now, on the way out the door, “Well, I’m off for my hair appointment. Poor old fool, YOU won’t have anybody to bitch at you for an hour…you won’t know WHAT to do!”
28 Safar 1432
[A note in a minor key toward fostering clear thinking — MN]
It is axiomatic that fantasy will trump all other, lesser models of “reality”, and this is so in all places and all cases. Moreover, physiologically, the material reality of fantasy is at least on an equal footing with all other conceptions, “science,” “scientific method,” “theology” and any and all other party-platforms. The only requirements are 1) a volume of protoplasm organized into a brain that includes a cortex, and 2) enough love for your interrogators in their unhappy and shortsighted confusion to keep on saying “yes, BUT….”
I think it, THEREFORE it is.
THE FINAL AUTHORITY
28 Safar 1432
ya, Sahibi, but you are forgetting the final authority, for the personality that passes beyond a certain stage of development certainly, of the eternal, the ever-triumphant and the all-outlasting “yes…but.”
The main focus then returns to the phenomenal, what actually is, including the whole collection of so-called fantasies.
In all of the worlds — ‘alaminna — water indeed is made up of hydrogen and oxygen in some of the worlds, at least, but that is merely on all fours with stating that the stars, viewed anyway from our position and stage in the story of just this one universe, are made up “all over the place” — as they actually are in one this universe, certainly — of mainly hydrogen. *
This is fine as far as it goes; but the error lies in assuming anything (or anyone!) “stops” at this point. The price for this kind of self-laming is being paid by us in the non-muslim West today in the exhaustion of what we call “science”, in servitude to mere technology. For there is far more to “the facts” and possibilities about any thing than the American classical question of “can I smoke it, fuck it or wreck it?” However, as far as “what” water (or stars) may be, in some worlds if not all, the greater shortcoming of this level of assessment lies in this:
Namely that none of it tells us who these persons are.
For true familiarity with hydrogen, water and, for example, viruses or song sparrows can only come to light in the the love of these persons — as in all loving, there alone is to be found the final, the ever-triumphant and the all-outlasting “yes…but” that alone saves men from the misuse of reason, or any other passion for that matter, and accidentally sawing off their possibilities like fingers in a bandsaw. Fortunately, the tools for learning these methods are available whereby the individual worker may experience their own results.
Personification as well as making the science (and scientist!) far mentally richer is furthermore a whole lot less boring! As Jesus (the Jewish one, not the Mexican this time!) said in one of the (you guessed it!) suppressed texts, “The problem ain’t sin, God damn it…it’s stopping short!”
* — This is the same error-class as assuming the dimensionless constants are “only” fixed ratios, between the weak and strong nuclear forces, the electromagentic field and gravity. It is a great basis for thought-experiment, and even local technical application; but, many things about the universes can only be found by assuming different ratios and sliding-scales between constants. Then you can have some real fun, not to mention distributing yourself over quite a few additional light-cones!
“Terrorism is telling people they were born bad people and they are going to die a bad death instead of getting to live on forever if they don’t follow the group model of an ultimate authority figure based on an anthropocentric characterization.

FUTURE OF SCIENCE
“Whereas, the exploration of the Realms of Imagination, and the further development of an ‘ilm al-Mithal, the science of imagination, is ahead.”
Old Former Farmer Haddad al-Qadim al-Wuq ‘abd al-Haq
29 Safar 1432
ya, Rajal, you write:
“We are creatures of reason, reason that is supposed to be fueled by imagination – not directed by imagination.”
That is the creed honestly set forth, or a corollary at least, of the cartesian centuries now ending.
Whereas, the exploration of the Realms of Imagination, and the further development of an ‘ilm al-Mithal, the science of imagination, is ahead.
(There are no end of other scientific fields in Isalm awaiting further development and as yet wholly unknown to the non-muslim part of the West. I certainly will be the first to admit I am no good at, well, most it…notably at ‘ilm al-ghaib, the science of invisibility, whereby the operator bypasses emotionally-based resistances and deals directly with the minds of men. This last field also helps you to leave the room in a timely way when people in a rage, because of of cultural envy, start breaking off table legs and making menaces! Alas, as a particularly slow student of sufism, I am stuck “out here” for training purposes in the southern Minnesota & Greater Iowa Hog Belt on the Internet, like a kind of staked goat, to publicize in a small way, in a way parallel to a load of other operations, the senectuous deficits of the Old Atlantic World.
(Did you know this? that in our rather more just Mohameten version of “Easter,” Jesus [pbuh] was being chased by the mob on Maundy Thursday, ducked in to a dark room, made a number of secret gestures and a shout of “Ishk, hoo!” and…disappeared. Rightly enough, the worst ringleader of the mob was set on the dark, a pistachio-seller and child molester from the Zion Gate, beaten, trussed and was the one that got nailed up, on Roman orders from inside the Appian beltway. In the latter-day, Palestinian version this is some Likud leader or the other, usually stuffed into a latex Bush Senior or Clinton mask, the latter with an attached rubber cigar. In Egypt it is a stuffed union suit full df pistachios and made up like Hosni Mubarrek….)
So you can see, human even more than “scientific” development is not a matter of throwing out any tool, but rather of adding to our equipment, always.
As to the question of what is “servitude” (in the case of our daughters, the rather stilted and arbitrary, unhelpful, binarism of the veil “or” promiscuity) this is an actual example of the subjective, or the emotional pull of an image, like the mob after the Prophet Jesus (pbuh). Its role would be most appropriate in developing a filmscript, novel or other work of art; it may be, however, that Ibsen a hundred years since already explored this problem for women in his plays, with more-relevant contents taken entirely from within our marketplace of limitations.

DEMOCRACY & THE QUACKS
“These quacks wave Democracy around like The Christians do The Baby Jesus…by one foot like a dead cat in a treehouse full of bad little boys with daddy’s porno mags and whiskey all hidden away up there!”
I have sent the “reply all” to many times today to do the same with this one. But I have to tell you I love this.
We had all of these in our tree forts as boys back in Michigan. The dead cat left below the fort. But you left out the wrist rocket sling shots and bb guns.No group of deviants can be complete without projectiles in search of targets.
3 February 2011
The worst of it all for the “great power” is that even in the depths of a good old riproaring depression it can not — the addicted Beltway “global” know-it-all players DARE not! — stop making more “money” out of pixels…just in case they’d lose their condom, er, quondam “influence….” The greatest lie of the whole pack is that this is for US, that figment, “the American people,” keeping us “safe.” That is THE great lie. The other load of horseterds is “democracy.” These quacks wave Democracy around like The Christians do The Baby Jesus…by one foot like a dead cat in a treehouse full of bad little boys with daddy’s porno mags and whiskey all hidden away up there! This self-important drool is for nothing but the entertainment-needs of the postmodern, postmoral, postreallymeaningfulinANYGod-damnwaywhatsoever “elite,” all running around with their hair on fire and pissing through each other’s teeth. If it wasn’t for “foreign affairs” they’d all have to make do with the disagreeable women at home, keep off the little girls in Bangcock AND be taken by the ear to Menerd’s TWICE a week, and plus the market for night janitors would be ALTOGETHER glutted. The useless EXPENSIVE sonsofbitches…Grampa!
BEHIND THE CURTAIN
26 Safar 1432
My old classmate over in Bodwyn Wook notes that the Mipple City skyline has completely changed in thirty years, but that the people in essence are still skunks (which is a slander on Mephites !)
Putting together Consuelo’s and the Baron’s remarks, whom do you expect, pray, is “working” the ad agencies?
(Somebody around here in the past week or so also noted the question of what I would call “hyperconsumption,” as aggression.)
Suppose we do peep behind the curtain only find there a mound of rotting but sentient protoplasm, cubic hundreds of miles in size, being played to on a sickly oboe and, so, lulled by an idiot flautist? Whom shall be rolled over in the colossal rage when the exhausted musician collapses and the tentacular horror-being of globular slime and lip gel with a hundred million eyestalks awakens in a hideous rain of rotting, stinking clamshells?
Naml al-Misri al-Kahira
“The global panopticon. And who says you can’t learn anything from postmodern theory? Yes, I know the original idea of the panopticon came from Jeremy Bentham in 1798, but it took Foucault to understand it for what is was, and that is surveillance of the entirety of society, followed by categorisation, all designed as a means of social and cultural control. For those you who have not read Discipline and Punish, do so, and that’s an order. If you have, I would also suggest Madness and Civilisation and the two new volumes of his lectures he gave at the Collège de France in the 1978-9. Absolutely riveting stuff. However, when it comes to advertising, we should that advertisers not only attempt to manipulate our “unknown” desires to get to “want things” , but marketing, especially with the advent of the internet, becomes a mode of surveillance used a means of social control so that we as individuals not only subsume our ability to rationalise and think for ourselves and what we may want and or/need, but even necessity becomes a type of desire to be wanted rather than seeing it as what it is, a necessity for survival. For example, we need to eat so we don’t become sick and die of starvation. When marketers and advertisers take necessity and make it a desire, we become separated from the importance of the necessity of survival and eating becomes only an activity of pleasure without any structural grounding. This is not to deny that food can provide pleasure, and I’m not throwing cold water on it; I’m simply stating that starting from Bentham’s Panopticon in the 1790’s, our needs and desires have become geared towards modes of surveillance as a form of social and cultural control. You can disagree with this all you want and, admittedly, I haven’t worked out all of the details myself, but my point is that the ad is more that trying to show a “difference” that may and/or may exist, but advertisers manipulate concepts of difference and sameness to make us see what they believe we want to see. Just a thought to be continued….”
“The one thing that has really changed (and I think for the better) is
that we now have the internet. Otherwise, our entertainments are slicker
and more distracting, while our militaries have deadlier (and much more
hugely expensive) weapons (and we seem to have settled into a sort of
perpetual Orwellian war). You’re right, our stage sets and props all
seem to give us the feeling of being in a sort of perpetual 1980. Oh,
yes, and in 1980 it was still possible to maintain some sort of
anonymity, while now “they” pretty well have us all under at least
cursory observation in their Panopticon.
