‘There But For The Grace of God….’
by B Wook
‘The people’ through most of History have had to keep their heads down; despotism & corvée labour are the broad norms of agricultural & urban history. The late Baron Rom, Edward, pointed this out to me many times. He also noted that the Modern Age from the Renascence to 1989 is a true anomaly in the overall time-line of Clio, with the growth & decline in those same five centuries of individual liberty. It may be that human social life will lapse back into the old pattern — but, just maybe, the great weapon now is proving to be simply to ignore these reactionaries; after all, it’s THEIR ‘prestige’ & urge to be on Tee Vee that’s on the chopping block now, in any case.
Only think about it.
Now, think of this:
The Internet at its leading edge & hence no longer ‘under control’ is, by this same definition, always ahead of ‘surveillance’ which is always backward looking, always worked up about what ‘just happened’ a nanosecond since. I know, it’s a stretch, but in any case the old-time Late Modern Professional Order is just plain being left behind in the shite by the times, and all of this post-contemporary digit-fidgetting old shite by them is a sure sign of THEIR panic…and, their rage, now, at the indifference (!) especially of the young, now.
Phoney ‘elites’ past their sell-by dates & based self-referentially on the stale university system of a hundred years ago are the ones to-day with THEIR arses in a sling & (in American, if not only the American quondam ‘leadership’ alone) “all pissed off” about the real nature of existence; the rest of us just have to party down & then die as quietly as we can when the Black Camel kneels at the door. After all, existence never ever has been mainly about ‘us’.
And, now, it is pretty definitely not about the US or the Old Atlantic West any longer.
So, WE don’t have to riot — we just have to feel sorry for folks like Old Dick Cheney & be glad that we are NOT as far gone in that way!
Pass the bottle…. [pace, Joseph Conrad]
