A Statement of Denial of the State of Denial
by Bodwyn Wook
‘The ardently hoped-for, extravert & therefore staggeringly false “clash of cultures” concocted by the self-rapturous children of 1946-64 is proving nothing substantial whatsoever when compared to the internal ruin that now results….’
In effect declares Mr Blair when confronted with intimations of his failure in Life:
‘Oh, my goodness — errm…sorry, that last being, well, SOMEWHAT feigned…NO. Why, the very idea! Tsk….’
The historical collapse of this intellectually blinkered late-modern fellow’s wholly self-misleading professionalist policy credentialism, an anachronism in this Early Postmodern period, couldn’t possibly have a thing to do with it.
‘Oh, not a bit of it , none of THAT now….’
To paraphrase Count Ciano, another political philosopher, he of the 1940s & hence more at one with his actual historical setting, ‘victory has a thousand fathers, defeat is an orphan always’.
As matters now stand the entire North Atlantic policy establishment of to-day is floundering in the mounded theoretical rubbish of, by now, the day before yesterday; it was tossed by the tsunami of Soviet collapse & in vain our self-styled ‘leaders’ all since have been trying to make up, for themselves at least, some sort of a still-familiar New World out of the contents of this admiitedly very large bin.
The ardently hoped-for, extravert & therefore staggeringly false ‘clash of cultures’ is proving nothing substantial whatsoever when compared to the internal ruin that now results from this suicidal interior clash of (mostly) mis-conceptions, not least about _cultures_, themselves.
This in fact is a crisis of the very self-conceptualisation of the proprietors of what is left of the nation-states of 1871 to 1989, and now more than a generation later as the emerging system of Mr Philip Bobbitt’s ‘market states’ now surges & burgeons.
